RooferMatch

How roofers are ordered

Who we show you, in what order, and what money has to do with it (nothing).

Only verified RooferMatch member roofers who serve your ZIP code and do this work are shown. They're ordered by fit: claims experience first when you have an insurance claim, then how reliably they've responded to recent requests (homeowners confirm this), then how quickly. Roofers can't pay to rank higher.

Who can appear at all

  • Members of the RooferMatch network only. We never list roofers who haven't signed up.
  • Their insurance certificate is checked and current. In states that require a roofing license, we verify that too.
  • They serve your ZIP code and do the kind of work you asked for.
  • They aren't paused and haven't hit the monthly limit they set for themselves.

Before launch, three clearly labeled sample profiles also appear in 78704 and 78745 so people can see how this works. They aren't real businesses, and requests sent to them go to the RooferMatch team, not to a roofer.

The order

  1. If you have an insurance claim open or are thinking about one, roofers who work claims come first.
  2. Then how reliably they've answered requests from the last 90 days (requests at least a day old). A request counts as answered when you tell us the roofer got in touch, or when the roofer reports contacting you and you haven't told us otherwise. If you say a roofer never got in touch, that request counts as unanswered, whatever the roofer reported. Rates are grouped in quarters (under 25%, 25 to 49%, 50 to 74%, 75% and up), so small differences don't decide the order.
  3. New members with fewer than five requests are placed at the network's median response rate, or at 50% until at least three members have a record.
  4. Then their typical (median) time to respond, in three groups: within 2 hours, within a day, and longer. Roofers with no responses yet count as within a day.
  5. Roofers who tie are shuffled daily, so the longest-standing member doesn't always come first.

We show at most five. You pick up to three.

What doesn't count

Payment. Members pay per request they receive, the same rate whatever position they appeared in, and there's no way to buy a higher spot. We also don't publish ratings or reviews; we'd rather tell you how to vet a roofer yourself.
